Perhaps you have looked at some of the professional floral bouquets and arrangements and thought that you could do better. The truth is, many times you can. While you might not have a lot of experience, with the proper floral supplies, you can create a stunning display worthy of any professional.
If you have ever seen a professional florist at work, you know that they use special tools in order to make their arrangements. If you want to make your work stand out, then you will need to use the same floral supplies, which you can buy from craft stores, shops and even online.
To create the perfect flower arrangement, you need to start with great flowers. Trim the base of the stem at an angle, which will give the stem more surface area in which to soak up water. Buy a preservative to put in the water, which will help your flowers stay fresh while you are working on the rest of the arrangement.
When purchasing floral supplies, one thing you will want to stock up on is reusable florist foam. This foam will hold your flowers in place, instead of shifting inside of the box or vase. Another benefit of the foam is that it is absorbent, so your flowers will receive water even while in the arrangement.
If you have shorter flowers that you need to arrange, then you need the foam block to be a little higher than the container. When you are buying floral supplies, you should also pick up some florist tape, which is waterproof. This tape holds your foam in place, so that the water will not make it float.
While foam is especially useful for boxes and containers, if you are using a clear vase, then foam is not your best option. The way to solve this problem is to use metal frogs. Metal frogs are a little more difficult to use, and you will have to practice holding them in place by using florist’s clay.
Even with all these floral supplies, you might find that your arrangements are not looking the way you would like them to. If that is the case, and you need a little more experience, then you can do a little research.
